    The structure to the left is a "burner," which was used to burn scrap wood and sawdust.

    Logs were piled or "banked" along the river banks; then they were rolled into the river and floated down to the sorting gap before being sent to the saw mills.

    The sorting gap was where logs were sorted according to owner by reading the mark on the end of each log. The logs were then sent to the relevant mills.
