The date of the fire was April 15, 1940. I have a letter written on May 2, 1940, by Susan G. Little of 216 State Ave., Alpena, with these comments: "Our H.S. pupils are at work again 900 of them housed in stores, theater, Memorial Hall and Garment factory annex. They met last Friday at the theater and received their instructions to begin this week. That is pretty swift work after a fire two weeks before."
