- Description
- The yacht DUNGENESS was constructed in Maryland and delivered in 1894 as Andrew Carnegie's private yacht. Frank W. Fletcher purchased the yacht in 1898 and brought it to Alpena on Lake Huron, renaming it WINYAH. At 115 feet, it was one of the most elegant and showiest vessels of the time. A beautiful painted-top table, part of the yacht's original furnishings, is in the collection of the Besser Museum for Northeast Michiga.
