- Linke's Flower Shop had a long history. Established in 1872 by Charles Sans, father-in-law of Alfred Linke, in formally passed to the Linke family with purchase in 1907 by Alfred Linke, Art Linke's father. The building was on the Mirre and Fifth Streets site for 120 years out of 135 years the company was in business. It was destroyed by fire in 1997 and re-located to a builing on M-32, west of Alpena. Margaret Linke Knechtel ran the business for many years. Margaret was born in 1910 and died in 2006. She was married to Frank P. Knechtel and had two children.
