- The Soo Locks, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The EDMUND FITSGERALD upward-bound from Lake Huron entering the MacArthur Lock, to be raised 22 feet to the level of Lake Superior.
1958 – EDMUND FITZGERALD – 1975. This 729-foot ore carrier, in continuous service since its launching in 1958, was lost, together with it compliment of 29 crewmen, in a violent storm on Lake Superior, on November 10, 1975.
