Just to give new- comers an idea of how their involve- ment can really help, we have reprinted the campus cleanup article below. It ap- peared as the following: CAMPUS CLEANUP SUCCESSFUL by Debbie Anderson The 9 students that showed up for the A.C.C. cleanup on April 27th really put their J!lL into the job. It was their spirit and concern that made the clean- up a success! They were; Jim Nichols, Dale Niekart, Paul Gunderson, Duane Kruger, Billi Fetter, Dan Silva, Gil Bartz, Joan Emerson, Deb Anderson, Mr. Doug Smith, and "Sam". We covered Grant Street and the college area. Later, we had a picnic lunch at the college pre- pared by Tom Rohn. Come on, "Sam", let's clean this mess up. As a group, we were disappointed in our friends and teachers. We had planned on at least 50 students and at least one third of the teachers. But now, we know why our community is the MESS that it is ... no one is willing to invest their time and effort into saving our environment. We are lucky to live in Alpena - - we still have clean rivers, forest to hike in, and wild animals- - many people in the U.S. are glad to have a tree in their yard! But do .YQ!l show your appreciation? Look around - - garbage lines the streets and roads of Alpena - - we did a lot, but we could have done more, if you had been there! You've got to start somewhere. If a student drops a course within 8 instructional days of its beginning and returns the book to the Bookstore with both the sales slip and a drop slip, a complete refund will be made PROVIDED the book is unmarked and in good condition. Beyond this time a book must be considered a used book and only I /2 of the purchase price will be paid. The Bookstore is not obligated to make refunds on any book so remember the rules: I. Within 8 instructional days. 2. Both sales and drop slip necessary. 3. Mint condition. A TIP TO STUDENTS: As soon as you know you will be staying in a course find a way to identify your books. Keep a record of your manner of identification and if a book is lost report it immediately to the Bookstore. We have a very good recovery rating on cases in the past when identification is possible. The summer class enrollment involved 24 7 students. This was a small increase from the 232 students involved in the 19 72-197 3 sum- mer program at A.C.C. A mail registration was used during the summer school session, this was a first for the summer program at Alpena Community College. The program work- ed well, according to Mr. Henry Valli, "It proved to be quite effective because people didn't have to stand in line to get their money in."
