Dr. Susan Peter, chem istry r, has resi ne cepted by the college . "I'm genuinely sorry if the students are disappointed, but I feel I did the best thing I could given the circumstances," said Peter. "I've enjoyed my year here, but I did have some prob- lems. I think my talents would be better served somewhere else. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all the stu- dents who are supporting me." "Nobody wants her to go," said Karen Zolnierek, a student who took Peter's CEM 100 and CEM 111 classes. "The stu- dents comprehend better in her class." She replaced Dr. Richar~Moreau, former chem- istry instructor, last fall. A petition was circulated on campus for the benefit of the students who wanted to try to keep Peter at ACC. Also, flyers were attached to the walls throughout Van Lare Hall, Besser Tech, and the Natural-Resources Center. The movement begun by the students captured attention. Said Department Chair Gary Sparks, "It's admirable." Sparks refused further com- ment. Peter herself offered little information about her situation, declining to comment on the reasons. "She's teaching the stu- dents, and the students would know whether she is teaching the subject well . .. [and we think] she's exceptional," con- tinued Zolnierek.
