The women's team came out slow, get- ting down by 16 early on, but picked up the m pace late in the second half and ended up winning (83-80). Key free throws by Sara Roach in the closing seconds helped clinch this big conference win over Schoolcraft. The Lady Lumberjacks, 2-6 in the con- ference and 5-12 overall, were led by Bodhi Watts with19 points. Kristi Whaley added 14 points, nine assists, and pulled down six rebounds. Freshmen sensation Marisa Stoppa had 13 points and 12 rebounds, in- cluding the shot to give the Lady Lumber- jacks the lead for good. The men started out slow, falling behind early. They settled down and came out and set the pace, going up by 16 halfway through the first half. Near the end of the first half they got a little sloppy and went in at half only leading (48-41). Schoolcraft cut the lead to six at the start of the second half, then the Lumberjacks caught fire and took total control of the game, pulling away from Schoolcraft (107- 92) to improve their record in the conference to (5-5) and (9-10) overall.
