Entertainment Page 11 October 1 2002 ' ACC Celebrates Anniversary with Decade Performances ERIN SHARP Staff Writer This year the Spotlight Series has decided to celebrate along with the college in keeping with the 50's theme. They will be showcasing five different musical groups from all over the world. The Spotlight Series is a performing arts group that brings arts to the college, and they have come up with the idea to spotlight various artists that perform '50's style music. The Spotlight Series has been held in The Robert and Jacquelyn Granum Theatre for the past seven years. Florence Stibitz is-a member of the Spotlight Series Advisory committee. It is made up of community people who assist m choosing and hosting various events and artists at the theatre. · She said the committee contacted an agent that works with big bands and he gave them a list of talented artists to choose from. The Four Aces are the first to perform at ACC. They are from Montreal and have been known to draw standing-room-only crowds. They perform familiar songs such as "Three Coins in a Fountain" and "Sincerely" among other favorites. Mrs. Stibitz says this is the first time the Spotlight Series has scheduled two shows for one performance. Mrs. Stibitz says the committee is both excited and apprehensive about bringing this featured artist to ACC. His name is Chris MacDonald, and he has performed at such places as Graceland and in Las Vegas. When asked about how the committee considered an Elvis impersonator, Mrs. Stibitz said they were given a list of performers from an agent. However, she got on the Internet and found Mr. MacDonald, whic~ sparked their interest. This Elvis look-alike will be performing all of the great classics like "Heartbreak Hotel" and "All Shook Up" on April 26, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Stibitz is very excited about this series, she says they have always had great successes in the past and they are already planning for next year. She also noted the committee is always receptive to suggestions from the public. Tickets are available for either the whole season or as an individual ticket. The cost for students is $20 for the season or $7 individually and $35 for the general public and $10 individually. Mrs. Stibitz also said that Student Support Services have a small number of tickets available to students at no charge. They are available in the Leaming Resource Center at the college.
