' Kathy Morlan, Award- inning Artist KARA EUBANK Features Editor Kathy Morlan loves art. Art is a rather new passion for her. Kathy, 32, is a student at ACC studying elementary education through the Spring Arbor Program. She took her first art class only a year ago. Through the art classes she had, she realized the importance art has in everyone's lives, especially children's. She feels art is a creative outlet. Although Kathy is only in her second year of art classes, she has already won an array of awards for her pieces. She received 1st place at the Alpena County Fair for a piece titled "One Nation Under God." It is a tribute to the events that occurred on 9/11. She also received 2nd place for a design titled "Sights Within." This is her fav0rite piece because the piece is a metamorphosis that describes how far she has come and how much she has grown not only as an artist but also as a person. When asked to give advice to asp1nng artists, Kathy replied, "Don't be afraid to try anything. Some of the best art happens on accident." Artwork and Photos Original Creations of Kathy Morlan
