Don Witt, head of buildings and grounds, was enthused about the new improvements made on campus. There were two criterions that Witt followed in planning job priorities. J The Student Senate elections for 1987-88 are being held for the offices of President, Vice-President, two sopho~ore representatives, and five freshman r_epresentatives. The positions of President and Vice-President were both elected during the spring semester of the school year as normal, but because of a residence change and other technicalities, . both : offices have become vacant. The current voting members of the Student Senate suspended Article II, the election procedures, of the Senate Constitution, : for the dates of September 1 to October 1, 1987. The Senate's Secretary and acting President, Chuck Witt, said · this was done_ tQ, "get the elections done in a lot faster way then what the constitution calls [for] .. " In order to- appear on the election ballot, a person must present a petition, signed by at least 50 students, five instructors , and that student's academic advisQf, to the existing ·Student Senate acting President. . All positions in the Senate are done as volunteer work; of course, holding ajposition of President or Vice-Prestd.ent would require more work · than the others. "But a student does not have to help on everything," Witt said, "We need students . who want . to be involved." Non-senate participation is welcomed and encouraged.
