He also completed the Ac- credited Police Officer Training Program for the state of California, advanced graduate studies in crimi- nology and police science and an M.A, from Central Michigan in edu- cation administration. “Being a deputy sheriff in Los Angeles for three years was an in- teresting experience, because | was assigned the SumSet Strip. There are a lot of different types of people’ centered in one area and it can be both humorous and tragic at the same time.” He has worked in Wyoming, Mich- igan as a patrol officer, a special investigator for the Michigan Lig- uor Commission for five ‘Years; and in rehabilitation centers, correct- ional programs, and alcoholic cen- ters in. Los Angeles. During the course of the Law Enforcement program, Bordewyk thrives to “plug’’ his students into different law enforcement agencies. This involves students riding with Sai ee a city and state police officers, sheriff patrol, and the D.N.R. Chairperson of the Sailing ( Committee of the Alpena Power Squadron, and Board of Directors of the Alpena Downtown Develop- ment Corporation. Everyone enjoys a hobby from time to time and Bordewyk defin- ately and emphatically stated his. “Sailing is my first love. Please we stu- Student Feature Tammy Plourd Shari Ratz, Staff Reporter “t just popped into my. head,” says Law Enforcement Club Presi- dent, Tammy Plourd, referring to her decision to enter the Law Enforcement program. Plourd had thought about be- coming a lawyer, but when she con- sidered all of the factors, such as the many years of schooling and the dif- ficulty of opening a practice, she gave up the idea. She signed up for -a general studies program at ACC, but suddenly decided to go into Law ent. a hei Pledrd enjoyed her semester as president, but found that running a club is quite a responsibility. As far as women’s liberation is con- cerned, Plourd says, “I like having doors opened for me, but if a. wo- man can handle a job, she should be paid the same as a man and be treated equally.’ She specifies, however, that on and off duty her attitudes weuld differ. Plourd’s hobbies include canoeing, hiking, jogging, and fishing.
