Loflin is a sophomore this year and will serve in the post only for the remainder of the year. In a recent interview, re-elected President Pickard stated, “One of the major goals of the Student Sen- ate for the next academic year at ACC is to encourage students to get more involved with the Student Senate.” He would like to stress the fact that, “The Student Senate is not a limited group, and needs greater participation from the stu- dent body. Jim Webber elected Vice-President Mary Moreau elected Secretary “feels it necessary” Croesus Venture To Benefit by Renee Kaschner A benefit auction for the Jesse Besser Museum will be held Sat- urday, March 24, 1984, at the Alpe- na Civic Center. This event, called the Croesus Venture, will be an evening of fun, food and drink, and entertainment. Serious bidding for art, antiques, collectables, services both frivolous and practical, and. many items of interest, will take place during a silent auction from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and a live auction from 8:00 p.m. to ?. The auctioneer for this pres- tigious event, is no other than Ms. Dory, Diggs. She is offering her ser- vices at a minimal charge. Robert E. Haltiner, Croesus Venture Chairman, hopes this will be as successful as the previous year’s. The proceeds from the event go to the Jesse Besser Museum for Museum upcoming events. Senate member Matt Parcells polled ACC students every day for a week via the “Splinter’’. “present time, Dean McCormack is attempting to locate old, yet usable lockers from the Alpena Public School system. If obtainable, these lockers would be recycled to serve as a pilot project. Board Meets In Light Agenda Session by Jim Baker At the recent Board of Trustees meeting Dick Miles, Physical Edu- cation teacher at Alpena Commu- nity College, was granted a sabbati- cal leave unanimously by the board. A sabbatical leave is an academic leave which an instructor can qual- ify for after teaching for seven years. Miles was granted the leave and will receive half of his normal salary plus fringe benefits. Mr Miles will be focusing his leave on a new —o program. This will be associated with new methods of physical fit- ness such as:running, jogging, and skiing. After his return in 1985, Miles also plans to organize a rehab- ilitation program which will be in~ coordination with the hospital and ACC's nursing students. In other business, Bob Jason was reappointed as attorney for ACC. Also, reappointed as auditor was Gordon A. Nethercut. The next Board of Trustees meeting will be held’ on March 15, 1984 at. 7:30 in NRC room 450.
