Page 6 ENROLLMENT NOT AFFECTED BY TUITION HIKE ACC is experiencing a significant raise in tuition. Tuition went from a low $27 per contact hour to $33 per contact hour. For out of town students, tuition was $37 and went to an incredible $45 per contact hour. Out of state tuition went from $61 to $75 per contact hour . There were different reasons for the raise in tuition. One obvious reason was the turning down of the millage. Another reason for the tuition hike, according to Max Lindsay, "was because of the financial situation, where Costs were exceeding revenue." Since enrollment has been going up at ACC, any of the above options would be absurd. Turning to anyone of these options would not benefit the students. Since there are 2,275 students this year, ACC will need all of the programs, services and staff. So, raising tuition was the most sensible answer to better the Van Lare Hall financial situation here at ACC. The college was given different options in order to solve this financial situation. Some of the options were to cut out programs, eliminate some student services and reduce staff members. This brings us to another interesting point. Even though tuition was raised, enrollment is still up. Max gave some reasons for the continuing rise of enrollment. One reason for the raise in enrollment would be isolation. ACC is 150 miles away from any other colleges. ACC is more convenient than going away to college. Another reason would be for economic situations. Compared to other colleges, ACC is extremely less expensive than most colleges. While the continuing raise of enrollment is a positive factor, another raise in tuition is feared by all. Most activities are open to all students, a Students should try to frequent themselves with all the services available to them as a student. If students have any questions, see the nice people in the LSC, 2nd floor of the NRC building. SNORING Slowly the person next to you bent his head foward, closed his eyes and started to make wierd gurgling noises through his nose. The teacher continued his lecture as if nothing was wrong. But as you looked around you noticed you were the only person in the classroom still awake. You began to shake the person next to you so that you didn't have to be the only one awake. Boring classes are sometimes a real drawn-out affair. They often becomes annoying to attend classes you feel are not productive. However, one does attend those classes because they keep the scholarship money flowing. ‘Treasurer: James CONCRETE The Concrete Club is an organization formed of people who are currently enrolled in the 2 year Concrete Technology program at ACC. NURSING Students do not want to™™'™=The goal for the nursing skip too many classes because by the time they do manage the once a month miracle of attending class. They find out they don't need the class in the first place. Unless one takes classes such as Beer Drinking 101 or Introduction to to Insulting a Student will come across quite a few snoozers.
