The presentation of awards began with Asst. Dean of Students, Max Lindsay, recognizing Greg Frey as the outstanding ACC Freshman Student with the Herbert Dow Leadership Award. This award carries a $100 stipend and given to the freshman student who best exemplifies leadership and commitment to the college. Other awards were given as follows: Intramurals: flag football, volleyball, basketball, floor hockey and bowling. Besser Tech. Bernie Peters and Dave Zann. Math Award: David Howe Business Club: Marva Schultz The Lumberjack: Marrielle Morrison, Lori Nash, Chuck Witt, John Pines, Trina Redding and Mary Bartz. Also next year's Editor, Staci Radke, was introduced. Student Activities Board: Chuck Witt, John Pines and Nick Barraco. Women's Basketball: Chris Thurston, Kay Lumsden, Sue Munro, Jamie Landfair and Ami Vondrasek. Most Improved Player to Janel Couture. Coach's Award to Dawn Lumsden. Defensive Player of the Year was awarded to Roxanne Wheeler. Outstanding Offensive Player to Tabatha Koger and Most Valuable Player was taken, for the second year in a row, by Sherry Hyvarinen. Data Processing: Betty Eastway Volunteer Center: Ron Worth, Michael Jasman and Carol Kinsel. Also recieving an award was the ACC men's basketball team for their time given to the Thunder Bay Junior High basketball team. Student Senate: Mike Fournier, Chuck Witt, John Pines, Dan Hanks, Jeff Hanson, Mike Rhea, Joe Krajnik, Tracey Barraco, Nick Barraco, Kelli Brooker, Jeannie Londo and Christine Carriveau. Men's Basketball: Most Improved Player, Duane Smiley, Captain and Academic award was given to Curtis Averyheart. Chemistry: Mary Klemens and Scott Bartz. The banquet was sponsored by the Student Activities Board. It began with a buffet dinner at the Holiday Inn and was followed by the presentation of awards. Congratulations to all who were aw.
