- Hotel de Beck, also known as Beck's Grand Hotel, built by John Beck in 1909 on Long Lake, eight miles north of Alpena on Long Lake Avenue. The hotel was destroyed by fire around 1919. John Beck was born in Germany and moved to Alpena in 1879, becoming one of the first resort owners in Northeast Michigan.
