I worked on board a self-unloader named the Dolomite in 1961. Originally named Empire State built in 1897 with quadruple expansion main engine like the engine shown but with Joy valve gear. I am sure that this is the same basic engine. all the dimensions seem correct. At the time I knew nothing about steam engines and never took any photos of the valve gear. I have searched the internet for pictures without success. The third engineer told me that this was a special engine but I was too inexperienced to understand. The Joy valve gear had these curved guides attached to the reversing shaft which changed the position of the linkage and valve cut-off. Wonderful to see in operation.
