Page 4 -CONCRETE TECH TO BE OFFlRED ON A FULL-SCALE BASIS Alpena Community College has announced the start of this nation's first two-year, full scale concrete technology course lead- ing to a degree of Associate in Applied Science A small group of students already are enrolled for pilot classes and the complete course program is expected to be under- way in the fall 9f 1968. By that time, 20 to 40 students - will be enrolled. The course is under the direc- tion of . P. J. Mielock, P. E., formerly a faculty member at Michigan State University and field engineer for the Portland Cement Association. «The well-rounded program will fulfill a long-felt construc- tion· industry need to provide more adequately trained tech- nicians in all phases of concrete use," Mielock said. "The two- year course should produce grad- uates who will be fully compe- tent _ to assume responsible posi- tions in the construction indus- try wherever technical know- ledge of concrete is required." The Alpena Community Col- lege concrete technology pro- gram has been approved by the North Central Association of Sec- ondary Schools and by the Vet- erans Administration for those eligible under the G .I. Bill.
