A similar art and humani- ties trip is being planned for the Fall. The tentative destination for this trip is currently Toronto. The Art for Humanities evening, held April 15 at the United Methodist Church on Ri- pley, proved successful as it raised $980, enough money to provide about 246 smoke detec- tors for low income families in the Alpena area. Laurie Wade's advanced ceramic students created over 100 assorted pots, jewelry pieces, vases, dishes and bowls for the exhibit and sale conducted with assis1ance from The De- partment of Social Services. The profits benefited SAFFE, Save Alpena From Fire Emergencies. The items were placed in the open hall, giving a true gallery atmosphere. Background music and hors d'oeuvres com- pleted the ambiance. Wade commemed on how well the evening turned out, especially with all the support fromACC's faculty. Wade was also pleased with the work her students accom- plished, not only with their creations, but through all their dedica1ed efforts assembling and dismantling the show.
