The women's team came out slow, get- ting down by 16 early on, but picked up the m pace late in the second half and ended up winning (83-80). Key free throws by Sara Roach in the closing seconds helped clinch this big conference win over Schoolcraft. The Lady Lumberjacks, 2-6 in the con- ference and 5-12 overall, were led by Bodhi Watts with19 points. Kristi Whaley added 14 points, nine assists, and pulled down six rebounds. Freshmen sensation Marisa Stoppa had 13 points and 12 rebounds, in- cluding the shot to give the Lady Lumber- jacks the lead for good. Near the end of the first half they got a little sloppy and went in at half only leading (48-41). Schoolcraft cut the lead to six at the start of the second half, then the Lumberjacks caught fire and took total control of the game, pulling away from Schoolcraft (107- 92) to improve their record in the conference to (5-5) and (9-10) overall.
