ACC had an Opening at the time, so | took it,” commented P.E. instructor, coach, and athletic director Richard Miles. Miles has very positive feelings about ACC. ACC is “among the very best, as far as total program.” He thinks ACC has an Hoe fac- a a nique: Miles, a native of the Detroit area, has been at ACC for over ten years. The coaching of women’s softball and the directing of all athletics have been Miles’ responsibility. Miles received his college education at Michigan State University where he obtained both his BS and MA. Previously employed with the Wyoming Godwin Heights School A District, Miles taught physical edu- cation. Also, he worked as aquadics coordinator at Evergreen Park in Chicago. transition back to ACC. The Alpena High School Auditorium is the place to be to see the excitement. This year’s director is Rick North- cutt of New York. Specially hired to cast and direct the show, he has selected 110 local people to do all the singing, dancing, and acting. Profits from the production go to the Alpena Girl’s Club. Last year’s efforts netted about $7,000 for the cause. Heading up the works is a 27-mem- ber board. Elaine Aikens is General Chairman, Judy Mazrum is General Co-chairman, and Connie Peterson can be contacted about tickets at 354-3982. James Coburn is sheriff Pat Garrett, Billy’s long-time friend. Garrett reluctantly tracks down Bil- ly to a deadly end. S in “student activities and through Student Feature Student Senate By Ken Lechtanski The Student Senate this year will be a youthful one. Besides Chairperson Thomas Kane, and Vice-Chairperson Beth Ander- son. students elected two sopho- mores and four freshman. Since no third sophomore candidate entered and two freshmen tied for third, all four freshman representatives will be on the Senate Members elected to “the Student Senate are sophomores Guy Rabey, and Sherry! Paquette, and freshmen Renee Bushey, Diana Flakes, Sarah Dowling and Kevin Schaudt. Guy Rabey, in his.second year at ACC, joined the Student Senate because he wanted to get involved in student affairs. He hopes to be able to help students with their pro- blems in the upcomimg year. Rabey enjoys working with others. Rabey’s favorite pastime is salmon fishing. He is a Hillman resident. Next year, Rabey plans to trans- fer to Ferris a but he is not sure of his ma Sherry! pacnene decided to join the Senate because she likes “trying out different types of clubs.’ ‘aquette enjoys being involved ATthou eC Wilt be apie to recieve her Associates Degree by the end of this semester, Paquette will finish the school year at ACC so that her credits will transfer to either Ferris or Northern. Paquette isa member-of the Law Enforcement Club. She enjoys the outdoors and meeting HeOpke, Her home is in Ossineke. Originally from Grand Rapids, Diana Flakes is attending ACC on a basketball scholarship. She hopes to follow up her hometown invovie- ment in student government with ‘similar involvement here at ACC. Flakes plans to transfer to Okla- homa State University, where she will major in physical therapy. Besides basketball, Flakes enjoys: sOap operas and roller-skating. Renee Bushey is on the Student Senate; she wants to get involved with other students. Bushey plans to find out what is happening at CC and make improvements from knowing where we're at. Bushey’s interests include music, and water-skiing. Next year’s plans include trans- ferring to Central Michigan or re- maining here where she commutes from Spruce. Kevin Schaudt thinks that the pur- pose of the Student Senate is unifi- cation, Better communication will unite the students and their student government. The gap must also be bridged between: students who live at the dorm and students who commute. - Schaudt’s hobbies are music, swim- ming and meeting people. Home is in Rogers City. He will major in humanities oe minor in music at an as of y undecided university. Sarah Dowling joined the Student Senate because she likes being in- volved in school activities. Dowling was a member of the Student Coun- cil at Alpena High School for two years where she learned to work with the student body. Dowling plans to go to ACC fer two years and then pense to snow. She lives in Alpena. Henry. Valli, who is the advisor in charge of student activities and appointed liason to the Student Senate approves of it. Talking about the Senate, he explains, “They're effective.
