CAMPUS UPDATE , November 7, 1979, Page 3 Dirty Dozen cleans up season with spotless record: 6-0 by Ken Lechtanski Hail to the victors ! The Dirty. Dozen finished their season last week with a spotless 6-0 mark to clinch the Intramural flag football title. As the rest of the league heads into the final week of the regular season, the 12-Packers have a lock’ on second with a 4-1 tally. Then follows a bitter dogfight for third with the Raiders, Bromund’s, Team 6, and the Dorm Dudes all tied with identical 2-3 records. The En- forcers continue to flounder in last place with a hopeless 0-5 season to round out the teams. After the regular season is fin- ished the top four teams will com- | pete in a playoff to determine a post-season champion. Following is a wrap up of the action which took place two weeks ago with the 12-Packers drawing a bye. Dirty Dozen 30, Raiders 6 2 The Dirty Dozen opened the scoring when quarterback John Jahnsen ran the football in for a 6-0 start. The Raiders marched back and tied the game on a touchdown pass to Brett Gromley. Then the Dirty Dozen showed why they are number one as Scott Hetzner took the ensuing kick-off the length of the field to put them ahead for od at 12-6. Hetzner scored agai ated by the: Dirty Dozen as Brad Schem capped a drive and Hetzner scored once more to finish his se- cond consecutive three-touchdown game to end the contest. » ‘Dorm Dudes 12, Bromund’s 0 The Dorm Dudes notched their first victory of the season by using a staunch defense to shut out Bro- mund’s team. The “Dudes” scored once in the first half on a pass to Steve Kueffner to lead 6-0. They closed out the scoring on a second half run by Kent Shantz to provide the final margin. Team “6” 24, Enforcers 18 Playing in frigid temperatures, the two teams provided the most exci- ting game of the season yet. Team 6 scored first on a pass to John Sil- via to lead 6-0. They took to the air again as Dave Jolly hauled in anoth- er pass to increase the spread to 12-0. The Enforcers refused to die as Jim Adamski caught a TD to end the half at 12-6. Gerald Karsten tied the game on a quarterback sneak early in the second half. Dave Perry bolted into the endzone to pull Team 6 back. ahead 18-12. The stubborn Enforcers tied the game once again as Lowell Lamoreau ran it in to deadlock the game at 18-18. A run by Byron Sinclair tied the game for the Dorm Dudes and at the half it was 6-6. Another run by Rich Rich- man gave the lead back to Team 6 12-6. The score tightened as the Dorm Dudes scored a ‘safety to make it 12-8. Then on the last play of the game Byron Sinclair ran in his second touchdown to win the the game. The conversion pass to Steve Kueffner was good to pro- duce the final score. 12-Packers 24, Raiders 13 Brett Gromley returned the opening kick off all the way to give the Raiders a quick lead. The con- version was good on a pass to Steve Sentiz to put the Raiders up 7-0. Paul Gilmet scored two consecutive touchdowns on a run and pass re- spectively to pull the 12-Packers | ahead 12-7. Roger Pauley caught a © pass for six and at the half it was the “‘Pack’’ ahead 18-7. Forest Hud- son took a pass in for the Raiders and it was 18-13.
