They are now in the process of putting together their evaluation in report form. The evaluation report will be sent to ACC for proofreading of factual errors. Once this is completed, the evaluation report and a recommendation from the consultant team will be forwarded to the NCA in Chicago. In Chicago a review is conducted, and the final reaccreditation decision is reached. It is not known yet as to how long the accreditation will be approved, but according to ACC's President Dr. Newport, "ACC can expect continuing accreditation with North Central.” This comment was generated from the response of the consultant team while on campus. During the interview with Dr. Newport he stated, "ACC was fortunate to have a consultant team with members from the approximate size colleges as ours.” Dr. Newport also indicated that this contributed to the team's perspective of ACC which would prove to be beneficial for ACC in the team's recommendation. With a correct perspective of ACC the consultant team was accurately able to assess ACC's strengths and vision how well we are using our strengths, along with how well we are improving our weaknesses. There were several ways that the consultant team conducted their evaluation. Dr. Newport commented on this area by saying, "the team virtually talked to all faculty members, they met with the administration and student senate, and had talks with random students in the lounges." The consultant team visited the main campus, Wurtsmith campus, East Campus and a quick stop at the Volunteer Center, These actions generated this comment from Dr. Newport, "They were a very visible and very active team." After speaking with Newport awhile, he stated, "the exiting comments McDivitt, chairperson for the consultant team, were ver positive." This statement can only add to the anticipation of ACC as we await word on the renewal of accreditation, which will be final in July.
