(Photo by Jill Dorcey) SUMMER SCHOOL Planning special 6-week session at Huron Shores A special six-week summer session will be offered in Oscoda at ACC’s Huron SI Campus, insi$ us at has a spec: tential Sader in mind for the abbreviated session, which runs June 22 to July 31, “Area students who are home for the summer from other colleges and who may need to pick up a few credits or get some general courses out of the way will be able to take advantage of this,” he pointed out. “And since these classes will start in late June, rector Tim 17 enroll in part-time nursing program ie new part-time Licensed Practical Nursing class began in September at the Huron Shores Campus with 17 stu- dents enrolled in the two-year, weekend program. Until now, ACC’s Level I nursing program required stu- dents to attend full time for one year at the main campus. The new program at Oscoda offers an additional educational option. The next class of part- time students will begin their two-year schedule in 1993. A graduate of either the: full- or part-time program earns an occupational certificate and is eligible to take the state licens- ing exam to become an LPN. the high school graduates who want {0 get si lege course work will also b in Oscoda to broaden civilian enrollment. Six-week summer sessions have been successfully offered at the main campus in Alpena for many . Instructional time and credit hours are not compromised be- cause’classes run longer each day or more times each week than during the regular semester. The 14-week summer se- mester at Huron Shores will be held as usual. It runs May 4 to Aug. 7. Tentative summer schedules for both campuses are now a- vailable at the ACC Office at Wurtsmith AFB or from Campus Services in Van Lare Hall at the Alpena Campus. Among the 10 classes scheduled for the special summer school at Oscoda are such general education require- ments as History of Western Civilization, English 112, Politi- eal Science, General Psycholo- gy and Speech.
