    W.L. and H.D. Churchill Lumber Company. This mill was first built by F.N. Barlow in 1871. It was purchased by the Churchills in 1877. During the season of 1882, it cut 17,250,000 feet of lumber and a

    State of Maine Street was the original name of the present State Street, so named because many residents came to Alpena from the State of Maine.
